READ THE BIBLE!!

Image
So ya like yesterday was a TOUGH day! I was very disappointed that most of our people we're teaching didn't show to church. I was kinda mad at the members and I was just way tired all day. So that night we went to go talk to this guy who talked with missionaries a little bit ago. So we talked to him for a bit on his porch. He was a nice guy but the dude had no idea what he was talking about. Of course he was catholic. So he starts talking about first communion and baptism and stuff. I asked him "where in the Bible does it mention first communion?" He's like "uhh, well I don't really know the Bible but it says it in there." I'm like "no it doesn't". Basically the conversation was him claiming stuff and me saying thats not in the Bible. He didn't even know who John the Baptist was. So moral of the story. If you are planning on on using the Bible or another source to make a point, then you better be familiar with that source. So th...

CODE MARRIAGE!!!

Image
Buenos tardes a todos de mis amigos, amigas, amigazos, y familiares! So there's something I don't understand. Why not just get married. Let me backup a sec. So there are lots and lots of Latinos who just live together, have been together for years, and have families. My question is, how do you propose? Like "hey wanna live together and have kids, but don't worry we won't get married, no commitment". I don't know honestly. Everybody, let me tell you right now. Marriage is of God. Hebrews 13:4 "Marriage is honorable in all, and the bed undefiled: but whoremongers and adulterers God will judge." Sounds harsh but it's true. So basically that tangent was because the Lazaro fam needs to get married before they get baptized. Does this sound familiar to anyone? Well, luckily this is a bit easier than the Eloy and Maria situash.  1: Armando and Mauricia have passports and birth certificates.  2: We live like 10 minutes from the embassy.  3: I have a l...

Catholics, Carne Asada, And A Triple Date

Image
This week was a WILD on so let's just skip the plesentries and get to it. The Lazaro family is not doing so hot. Like they're still progressing a ton they're just pretty sick, or at least Mouricia is. So please keep especially her in your prayers. The Lazaros accepted a baptismal date!! Originaly we put them on for January 29th, but we're thinking about going for the 30th so they can come to church one more time before they go swimming. But we're excited for them. We still have a good amount of stuff to teach them, so we'll be grinding these next two weeks. Please pray for this family that they will recover and be and feel ready for the 30th! (This is the "triple date" part)  Jose Lopez is doing good. He could use some prayers to stop smoking weed. I'm gunna be honest. He's a 19 year old from Handuras, so it's hard to understand him. Like I can understand most things just fine but DANG he's got the slur going.  So we went to Catholic Ma...

Hermana Mission

Image
HEY HEY HEY GANG!!! I hope you're all have had a great week! Well the weather is still the same here. I was talking with another Elder. We were talking about how the mission feels like a time warp and how you totally just lose sense of time. How it all feels like a blur. He's like "yes especially here in California, the weather is always the same. You don't know when seasons change/pass." you don't have the weather to tell you what time of year it is, so it just feels like a big "time trap". (that's a good movie, go watch it). Well, I burned a pair of pants this week to celebrate 18 months being on a mission. Which is tradition by the way. If you don't know, at 6 months (for Elders) you burn a tie, at a year, you burn a shirt, 18 months, pants, and 24 months, a suit. If I was an Hermana I'de be home right now. Kinda wild! Anyway, enough about that. So covid it's back in California. The restrictions went back to how they were exactly a...

PACHANGA!!

Image
WHAT'S UP PARTY PEOPLE!!!  So PACHANGA means party in Spanish, then you say "wait wait wait, what language have your been learning for a year and a half Elder Felsted? Fiesta means party in Spanish". That's true but apparently there is slang in Spanish too. This is why this week was a PACHANGA. 1) We had transfers on Tuesday and I'm still here in Oxnard, but I got Elder Krenkel, he's a party. He's also a pilot. 2) This is my second transfer being a zone leader, so I still don't know what I'm doing, but I know better than last transfer. 3) Our ward had a new years eve party! Don't worry mom, we didn't stay tooooo late. It was way FUN! This awesome family we are teaching came. There is this 90 something year old lady in our ward named Mama Martha. She was just sitting on a chair on the side while we were all dancing. Elder Kirk told me to go get her. So it took a lot of convincing her. She said she had a problem with her knees. You know missi...
