Catholics, Carne Asada, And A Triple Date
This week was a WILD on so let's just skip the plesentries and get to it.
The Lazaro family is not doing so hot. Like they're still progressing a ton they're just pretty sick, or at least Mouricia is. So please keep especially her in your prayers. The Lazaros accepted a baptismal date!! Originaly we put them on for January 29th, but we're thinking about going for the 30th so they can come to church one more time before they go swimming. But we're excited for them. We still have a good amount of stuff to teach them, so we'll be grinding these next two weeks. Please pray for this family that they will recover and be and feel ready for the 30th! (This is the "triple date" part)
Jose Lopez is doing good. He could use some prayers to stop smoking weed. I'm gunna be honest. He's a 19 year old from Handuras, so it's hard to understand him. Like I can understand most things just fine but DANG he's got the slur going.
So we went to Catholic Mass yesterday. Let me tell ya, it was interesting. Not that I'm going apostate or anything but I genuinely was interested. Not really in like the doctrine or the teachings, but real just learning how the Catholics did some things. It had been a long time since I had gone to Mass and last time was all in French. So it was nice to be able to understand what was going on and to have the background that I have gotten as a missionary. I could go off on a lot of things I disagree with but I won't for right now. If you want to talk to me about any of that Catholic doctrine stuff, send me an email, I'd love to talk about it. My comp and I definetly talked a lot about it in the car after Mass. The pastor was talking and he said welcome to all those that are visiting. Then he said thank you to the brothers (Looking at us) for coming. It was a very large room and a huge congregation. But of course our friend we went with sat in the middle towards the front. So thats where we were. And of course, we STOOD OUT. Like more than a sore thumb. We were the only white dudes. Of course we were more dressed up than anyone. You know white shirts and ties, and of course, our tags. But it was nice to be welcomed. You know most Catholic people are very nice and great, it's just the belief that gets me, but again send me an email and we can talk about Catholic doctrine. So that was at 8 am yesterday. It went about an hour. After we went back to Our buddy Marcos's house. He cooked up some Carne Asada on the grill. It was soooo goooodd!!! So he said he couldn't come to our church yesterday because of his Carne Asada party, but next week he said he will come to our church, and he seemed Pretty genuine. So if he does, great! If not, I got to learn more about the Catholics and we got Carne Asada.
We started teaching this cool guy named Iyax. He just moved to Oxnard. He's living with his family here who are recent convert. We actually set up a member visit with them and ended up meeting Iyax there in the member visit. Unfortunately he was asleep the last visit we had with that family.
We've had a lot of zoom meeting this week, which are kinda rough.
The moon had a really cool ring around it the other night. Unfortunately Android cameras can't capture cool stuff like that, but whatever.
Covid restrictions are still kinda weird, but they honestly haven't been too bad.
My comp and I are still doing good. Being a Zone leader is still a lot some times, but not too bad. Pretty fun.
Well I love and miss all you wonderful people!!!!
Have a great week!!
