Basher And Memories

Image
Wow, another fast week! I feel like a lot happened. This week it started getting cooler. Like I mostly wore my long sleeve shirts this week. Then this morning was kinda chilly. This morning we went out to go shopping and it really did feel like Halloween season back at home. Like a cool October morning in Heber where I'd usually be outside or in the garage building or setting up Halloween decorations. We walked in to Walmart and the song "spooky" was playing. We played that song in Jazz band once about this time Halloween season. I also heard it in Home Depot when my dad and I were shopping for Halloween decorations like 2 years ago. Wow, just going to Walmart brought back the most memories from home that I've had in 3 months here in California. Anyway, so the other day Elder Ogden and I were in the park we sat down on a bench to make a call. We looked over at this family on a bench across from us. The girl probably 7 stands up and like speed walks over to us. She sta...

Get A Life

Image
So Elder Ogden and I were walking in the park the other day and some dude points us us and says "hey you guys get a life" haha. He was a member from our stake. He was interesting. We also saw him the next day at the church (his ward meets at 10 ours at 12). He told us we were going to hell. I'm not sure if he was trying to be funny or what. Even members are kinda weird. Anyway at that same park, we talked to a guy playing his guitar. Elder Ogden had talked with him before. He was cool. We got his number and set up a time to meet in the park and play the guitar. He wants me to show him something musical. Cuz I told him I was in the jazz band and I play drums. I'm really not that musical. OK back to church. Jaime and Edward came. That was awesome! Right as the meeting was getting started, a member whispered to Elder Ogden and I that she fell, hurt (maybe broke) her finger. She asked if we could give her a blessing. Right after we did, she said she felt a little better. ...

Take Me To Church

Image
Yep you guessed it. We went back to church! It was still a little oko taco with masked and socially distanced piece of bread and wearing gloves when I broke bread, but it was still so cool to actually see my whole branch there for the first time. Like we've done member visits, but everyone was together. Now everyone had masks so I didn't really get to see their faces but there still was a great spirit of being together. We got a new branch presidency.  So kinda a lot happened this week but all so fast. Here's a funny story. So we started teaching someone new named Daniel. He told us he speaks Spanish and English, but after starting in English we had no idea what he was saying so we switched to Spanish. He said you wanna know the true church. Then he pointed/touched Elder Ogdens chest. He's like you are the true church. OK so wow he believes we are all the true church. SMH. He was interesting. We have our work cut out for us.  I had 3 different exchanges this week. I...

No More Flavored Tabaco

Image
So when we were walking back to our car from shopping this morning someone stopped us and wanted us to sign a patition and vote against flavored tabaco, also he told us that our church members were great but our leaders were not. He was an interesting character. So it was a pretty full busy week.  First off let's just say that conference was AMAZING! If I had to choose two favorite talks, I would say President Nelson's talk about gathering Israel which means "let God prevail". Always remembering Him. Making Him the center of our lives. And the one about angels is our lives I don't remember who it's was by, but it was amazing! I know there are angels who walk among us. I have had experiences that 100% prove that. I think most or all of you know what I'm thinking. We watched both morning sessions at the church with our district, and both afternoon sessions with the same member and his family. It reminded me a little bit of watching conference at home, some g...
