Temple, HEAT STROKE, Broken Window, And Skitsophrainia

Hey everyone, hope you all had a great week! I sure did! Well as you all know because I'm sure you all have it on your calendars, this was my last week. I leave on Wednesday. My homecoming will be on Sunday, June 26th at 10:30 am. Please come. So let's go in order of the title even though it's not in chronological order.  All the departing missionaries go to the temple the last week. So we drove down Wednesday evening to stay in Ventura with some of the senior missionaries, and then went Thursday morning down to LA. That was really awesome! I stayed with the Wilson's alone. No comp. Just me and Elder and Sister Wilson. Thursday morn we drove in the van driven by the other Wilsons south to pick up another one of the missionaries from Simi Valley, then kept going south to LA. The temple was awesome! Every time I go, it's a different experience. It's cool and interesting! Afterwards we went to this really nice EXPENSIVE steak house! It was really good, but it felt ...

Purple Thumb, Sauced, Rough Times, And Doughnut Day!

Well everyone, this has been another weird week in this incredibly strange and kinda tough transfer! The transfer is almost over. Let me just say, this is not what I expected for my last transfer. I guess life is never really what you expect. You know that song by Bob Marley, "three little birds?" "Don't worry, about a thing, cuz every little thing is gunna be alright." That is how I feel like this transfer has been going. So many just shafts, and people ghosting us, and not pulling through, and the other missionaries being dumb.  Well my thumb is purple cuz I had a bad bike crash yesterday and I scraped up my arm and probably broke my thumb. It's realy purple and swollen, but I've had worse.  The other day there was like a wave of exahustion through Santa Maria. We were all so tired! We had a lesson that day with this kid we are teaching and he was so out of it.  I also had just a bad day the other day. You know those days when you just feel mad at ever...

The Last One, Urban Campers, And Bashey Atheist

Hello everyone! I hope you are well!  So we spent a lot of time at the church today. I wonder how many times I have been to the SM church.  So the proper name for a hobo is an urban camper. They hangout outside of our church a lot! This week, we saw them sleeping on the ground right outside the church many times. There were also two times this week that they were just walking around right outside the church just walking around and yelling. So ya that was interesting.  This week I had my departing interview with President Carter. That was kinda crazy! Like thats it. I've been having interviews with him every 6 weeks for 2 years and now no more. It's a weird feeling.  We got bashed by an atheist. Well he was kinda bashy but also just really a big faith shaker. He was weird. He's like there is no God, because He can't be like a man because He is so mean and just hates people.  Some cool scriptures I read this week.  2 Nephi 27:23 For behold, I am God; and I am...

Que Lindo, President Bragg, 1 Door Closes Another 1 Or 2 Opens

Image
Hello and good afternoon all of you wonderful people! OK so a lot happened this week but as always I'm not sure what to put in the weekly. This may be shorter.  So at the beginning of the week we made some cookies. Some for one lady we are teaching. It was her birthday. We also made some cookies for this couple and their young son because they were a little sick. So president Bragg from the area 70 came to tour our mission. We got to listen to him and the Carters for 2 days. That was really good!! We had a lesson. We were talking to this lady and her daughter. Another lady comes into the room and touches my arm and says "o wow muy blanco que lindo que bonito". She was telling me that my white skin was so pretty. Elder Nunley's dad is Mexican so ya Elder Nunley looks Mexican. Often we'll be in a contact or a lesson and I'll be speaking Spanish and the person will look at Elder Nunley and will be like "wow look a white dude speaking Spanish". It's ...

Beware Of Pride, Food Bank Inferno!

Hello everyone! Hope that you all had a great week! This week wasn't anything to crazy but also kinda tough.  So we had this really awesome lesson with this couple we are teaching. Before we started teaching anything, we were talking about missionary work and how it's pretty tough. We talked about how there are so many prideful and hard hearted people who won't listen to us or just waste our time. We talked about how pride is the biggest problem in the world today. It's so true. Humility is the opposite of pride. I told them that humility was on of the attributes of Christ. He taught, healed, and ministered with humility. He really is our perfect example. There is a chapter in Preach My Gospel, chapter 6, that talks all about christ like attributes. I invite you all to read through it. It is really good! If you have a paper Preach My Gospel that works, you can also find it on the gospel library app.  There is also a talk called "Beware of Pride" that I'll ...

OK friends what is going on?!?!  So Tuesday was transfers! As you all know I am still here in the AMAZING Santa Maria mission! So I'm follow up training Elder Nunley. He was in the zone last transfer, so ya he has enjoyed moving down the street. He is HILARIOUS! We've had a really good time this week!  So we started teaching a lot of really cool people this week! They are awesome! Like they are all really cool! We had some great spiritual lessons! Of course we did have lots of people cancel and flake on us, but These lessons that went through went so well! People that I don't want to leave yet. But, I got 5 weeks to enjoy and teach them!  On Saturday a member invited us over for Carne Asada! It was great!  We almost saw a Mexican fight break out. These dudes were definitely drunk. One dude rips his shirt off. These other people were holding these two dudes back. The best part was this was all going down at a quinseƱera.   Also HAPPY MOTHERS Day! Ya we ...
