Translation, Movie Night, And Maggots
Well hello everyone! How are you all doing? Send me an email I would love to hear from you all!
Well this week went pretty well. Missionary work is such a Rollercoaster all the time. We have such highs and lows! It's crazy! With people we're teaching, with members, with missionaries, etc.
Last Monday we went on a hike as a district in Pismo Beach. Pismo is such a beach town! It's pretty cool! There is a great view of the ocean and everyone looks like a surfer bro. Pismo is what you think of when you think of "California". The hike was cool and we went to this place called Hogies for lunch.
We are teaching a guy named Margarito. Margarito does not speak Spanish very well. He speaks Mixteco Bajo. This week we started getting Eloy to help us with visits. Because Eloy speaks Mixteco Bajo as well. We can't meet at Margaritos house because he said there are 12 couples living in his row home. And he can't drive anywhere else. And we can't drive him because of mission rules. So Eloy goes and picks up Margarito and brings him to his house. So we have visits with Margarito with Eloy and Maria at their house. It's awesome! Margarito wants to be baptized. He said he just wants some time to learn and come to church. So with time. We told the three of them about general conference. We are going to watch a session with the three of them.
We recently started teaching a guy named Higinio. He is way cool! He has been reading the book of Mormon a lot.
So we have been teaching this couple Alfredo and Lourdes for about 7 months. They are not progressing great. They are reading the Book of Mormon a bit. And they seem to understand what we are saying. There is just something that isn't clicking. We watched the Restoration movie this week with them. It was good! It definitely brought the spirit. After that we had a talk. I'll spare you the details on that.
The other after exercise, we came back to the apt. Some other elders came over for a little bit because they had service nearish to our apt. So We're talking to them for a sec in the kitchen. Elder Burkhart was making some breakfast and then he looks down and is like what's that. There was a little thing wiggling around on the ground. The other Elders are like what's that? I'm like oh no! Maggots! Well we grabbed the ones we saw, we took out the trash, and swept up and vacuumed up. Luckily I think we got them all.
I hope you are all so excited for conference! I sure am! Like I said we are going to watch one session with Margarito Eloy and Maria. We are watching a session maybe with Alfredo and Lourdes. The words of the Prophet and Apostles and all the other leaders are so valuable! I hope you all have the chance to listen to the prophet.
Some other things happened but um that's it for now!
I love and miss you all!
