Matchmakers And Mixteco
Hello everyone! How are you all doing? Send me an email, I would love to hear!
Well we had another good week here in Santa Maria California!
So your probably like "matchmaking, what are you doing out there?" Well, Eloy and Maria are making progress! Well let's start with last week. I was talking to my mom about this. Well long story short, she found an application online to get a Marriage license. She filled it out online and emailed it to me. Well then we went and printed it off at a members house. We gave the application to Eloy and Maria and then made a plan to go to the county office on Wednesday. So Elder Burkhart and I went with Eloy and Maria on Wednesday to the county office to buy a license. Long story and long time at the office short, they were able to buy a license and get married! We took Eloy and Maria to Chick-fil-a for dinner to celebrate. (They had never been, crazy right!). While we were eating we talked a lot about Mixteco and other dialects in Mexico. Because Mixteco is Eloy and Maria's native language. I'll attach pictures. Well Eloy and Maria are on date to be baptized on this upcoming Saturday! They are sooo solid! I am so greatfull for the opportunity I have had to be here with them all along their journey! Also for Eloy and Maria we are going to a reception/party to celebrate their Mariage and baptizm.
Well Monday night we were at the church that night after work. There were some sisters there with a flat tire, so we got to change a tire, thats always fun. A lot of the week was cleaning out our teaching pool and trying to find new people to teach. We have had lots of lessons set up with people but they have fallen through. Regection is not very fun let me tell ya. We did start teaching the grandfather of a recent convert in the branch. Margarito (the grandfather) is preaty cool. He is excepting and willing to listen. The thing is, he does not speak Spanish very well. He Speaks Mixteco. Teaching him was fun, haha. We started teaching a couple that was referred to us by the English Elders (they live in the same complex haha). Well this couple is nice. They are Apostolic. The wife grew up with this belief so she is very firm in her believes. The husband is a little more open, which is cool. We also started teaching someone that we just talked to on the streets. Because apparently on Saturday night, everyone is outside drinking and BBQing. One of them invited us to have some BBQ chicken and cervesa. Well the chicken was good. We just asked for a water. Haha. I got a picture with them too.
We got to watch the face to face yesterday with Elder and Sister Bednar. That was cool!
Kind of some other random stuff this week but that's good for now. I love and miss you all, I hope you have a great week! Thanks for the emails!
