Wrong Addresses, Drama, And Training
Well hello everyone! It's me Elder Felsted again! I hope you are all having a swell day!
OK so this week surprisingly went really fast! A lot happened but it's honestly kind of a blur.
So we had a lot of teaching appointments set up this week, but if you don't have the right address or phone number or people just don't answer the phone, they don't go over so well. I wish that people would call us ahead of time to cancel rather than us showing up and them just not answering the door or giving us some excuse. Now there are some people who do call and that's nice but a lot don't. What can you do?
Dealing with members is great! Sometimes it can bring a little drama tough. We did give a blessing to a member this week. That was really cool. It was in front of her non member father, mother, and sister in law so that was cool! The member was explaining to her father in law what a blessing is. She said "they can bless with the power of God, so what they say comes from God". Wow, no pressure. Honestly those are always cool spititual experiences. As soon as we took our hands off, she stopped crying as much and did say she was feeling a little better.
Speeking of drama, this getting an ID situation is a mess. So the embassy people came to SM this weekend. But they sent you away if you didn't have an appointment. Well you could only get an appointment by reserving one online or calling way far in advance. Well thats great if you can access the internet whenever or if they would ever answer the phone. Like Eloy and Maria tried to just show up with lots of other people who didn't have appointments either who were just hoping they could wait in a line until someone didn't show for their apt or there was an opening. Eloy and Maria and all these other people were sent away. So later that same day Elder Robles and I went down to SM to see what was foing on. So there was not very many people there. And lots of people did not show up for their appointments, so in my brain I think that if someone does not show for their apt, than a walk in should be able to take that spot. They should have had a line of people who didn't have visits and they could take fallen appointments. We talked about this with Eloy and He said that makes sense but they were still kicked out. So after, Elder Robles and I got on the church computer and looked at this website. It shows when there are appointment with the consolado. We'll there is one available on August 30th in San Francisco. We'll that's far. It's like 5-6 hrs one way. Eloy and Maria said they would go if a member gave them a ride. This is honestly pretty frustraighting. I'm not totally sure what to do. I feel like I never exactly know what I'm doing, just kinda winging this.
Well, transfers are tomorrow. Yes you read that right. I'm training a new missionary. Kinda crazy! I feel like I just got here. I have lots of mixed emotions. I was super nervous yesterday. I'm feeling better and more exited today. I'm gunna be the first impression of the mission on this new missionary! Ahh, crazzzy! Good news is I'm staying here in Nipomo again. Which is good because I already am familiar with this place. Trying to figure out a new area and training wouod be rough. Guess what? There are 31 new missionaries coming in! That's a lot!
I don't remember if I mentioned this last week, but Alfredo and Lourdes are off date. They are cool people and very consistant. Their desire is just not there yet. They still are going to their other church. Lourdes's sister is kinda sick. So they are with family a lot. The same thing is happening with Eloy. His brother is supper sick in the hospital. Opposition is real. We are working with some other new people too. They are coming along.
Well, sorry if this email was not as interesting as others but thanks for reading!
I love and miss you all! Hang in there!
