The DMV, Where Dreams Go To Die!!!
Hey wonderfully friends and family! I hope you all had a great week! This week went really fast! Lots going on.
First for the title. So this week we were going to go to the DMV to get Eloy and Maria IDs so they could buy a Marriage license, so they could get legally married, so that they can get baptized. Well there is this place called DMV Services that helps with the paperwork side of things for the DMV. It's supposed to make things easier. We'll long story short, they were nice but said they can't help because Eloy and Maria don't have social security #s. We didn't think they needed those to fill out this paper work. We'll apparently they do. They told us to just go to the DMV and they can help. We'll it was closed by then so we went the next day. I can defenetly see why the DMV gets a bad rap. This lady who was "helping" costomers was very rude. Very not helpful. She said no social security # "we can't issue an ID". It was and is very frustrating! I don't know what to do.
Next big thing that happened this week. Alfredo and Lourdes excepted a baptisimal date for August 28th. We're so excited for them! Biggest problem I can see so far is they are not legally married either. So if they don't have IDs we're in the same boat as with Eloy and Maria.
We had 6 of our friends come to church. Two of them for the first time. They are Seventh Day Adventist. Earlier on in the week we had a lesson with them and they said if we came to their church on Saturday they would come to our church on Sunday. So we went to the Seventh Day Adventist church on Saturday. They gave us the wrong direction so we ended up at a different building. But the meeting was at the same time, and this one was in English, so we went. It was not bad. I liked the song the band played. Honestly I believe there are little bits of truth everywhere. It was a good experience. The people were all very nice and welcoming. We got called out at the beginning of the meeting. The pastor is like "if my eyes are correct there are two Mormons back there". We talked with him afterwards. He was supper nice. We got a picture with him.
We had some service on Tuesday. That was cool. He fed us lunch afterwards. Speeking of getting fed, we got fed almost every day this week. Tuesday, the member fed us sandwiches for lunch. Wednesday, we had a lesson, but they were having a family party so we were just gunna do a short lesson. They invited us to stay for chichen and rice and mashed potatoes. Thursday, We had a awesome lesson with this way nice lady named Vanessa. Really good lesson. She had grapes, crackers and cheese and Sangria for us. That nightwe stopped by a new member. It was like 8:30. He and his wife were just making dinner. So of course we got some dinner too. It was a little spicy but good. On Friday, the same lady who fed us on Wednesday had more food for us. Saturday, we went to a wedding of someone in the branch. It was awesome! We got lots of food there. California has good tri tip steak. Sunday we had a member dinner. They stuffed us with rice and chicken and been. we had like 4 or more meals every day. I'm just saying everyone, I may not look the same when I go home. Haha!
Well I don't want to bore you all any more so I'll talk to you all again next week. Thank you again for the emails and support you all give!
I love and miss you all more than you know!
